During World War II, this specific pouch was used by infantry and airborne troops to safely and compactly carry the loose, metal antenna sections (the so-called F-Type sections) on their equipment.

• Contents: The pouch is designed to hold exactly four snap-together antenna sections (F-sections). Together, these formed the long 12-foot (approx. 3.6 meters) rod antenna, or individually, the shorter 4-foot (approx. 1.2 meters) variant. Specifically, it contained:

• Material: Made of heavy, water-repellent olive drab or khaki-colored canvas (Pattern 1937 webbing).
• Carrying method: The pouch is long and narrow. It features a canvas loop or strap on the back, allowing it to be attached vertically to the waist belt (webbing belt) or to the side of the rucksack (Small Pack). This provided the signaller with quick access while on the move.
