M12 Tool Roll

The M12 tool roll (often combined with the M13 spare parts roll) is a pouch for firearm maintenance. According to military specifications in military equipment catalogs, the original canvas M12 roll was classified under drawing number D-7389 (structural drawing B109250 for the contents). It was designed as a durable canvas bag to organize armorers' field tools and spare parts for major small arms, including the Browning Automatic Rifle (BAR), Browning .30 caliber machine guns, M1 Garand, and the Thompson submachine gun.[1]

The standard tools originally supplied in the individual compartments of an M12 military kit were:

• Compartment 3: Field test bolt (part #7313932)
• Compartment 4: Trigger spring tool (part #41-t-3318)
• Loose items: M31 cleaning brush (part #7160000) and standard cleaning patches.
