Swedish M26 Helmet "Civilförsvaret".
€ 95,00
The Swedish M26 helmet, specifically the version for the Civilförsvaret (Swedish Civil Defence), is a simplified version of the earlier M21 combat helmet.
Key features
- Design: Introduced in 1926. Unlike the M21 model, the M26 lacks the distinctive crest on top and the metal plate with the three crowns on the front.
- Material: Made of a lighter chrome-nickel steel alloy with a "raw" (unfolded) rim.
- Interior: Consists of three leather pads riveted directly to the helmet shell.
Version for the Civil Defence (Civilförsvaret)
- Color: While army helmets were usually green, helmets for the Civil Defence were often painted gray or blue (for air defense).
- Markings: These helmets usually feature decals (stickers) on the side. You will also often find stamps on the inside, such as L.I. (Luftskyddsinspektionen - Air Protection Inspectorate) and the size (e.g. 66, 69 or 72).
- M26/65: In the 1960s, many of these helmets received a modern liner (Redell style). This modernized version is called the M26/65.
Sweden also supplied this helmet model to Finland as aid during their conflict with the Soviet Union (known as the Winter War). They also supplied Norway with a helmet identical to the M26, called the M31. This was used during the Norwegian campaign. The M26 was also supplied to the Norwegian police, who were stationed in Sweden.
Unfortunately, the chin strap is no longer complete.
