US WWII M1 Helmet
€ 310,00
A classic mid-1944 McCord M1 infantry helmet. This is a highly sought-after configuration because it perfectly represents the transition period in WWII production.
Shell Identification: McCord Radiator Co.
- Batch Number 862D: This stamp dates the production of the shell to approximately March – May 1944.
- Front Seam & Swivel Bale: This combination (seam at the front and movable loops) is typical for this period. The transition from fixed to swivel bales took place in October 1943. The front seam (where the stainless steel rim meets) remained the standard until November 1944, after which it moved to the rear.
- M-44 Chinstraps: These are the correct OD#7 (dark olive drab) cotton straps with a black "J-hook," which is consistent with infantry equipment from the middle and end of the war.
White Liner: Mine Safety Appliance (MSA)
- Manufacturer: Your liner was produced by the Mine Safety Appliance Company in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
- Type: This is a high-pressure molded liner, the standard from 1942 onwards. MSA was one of only a few prime contractors (alongside Westinghouse and Inland) that manufactured these durable liners.
- Feature: The "MSA" logo in the crown of the liner confirms its origin.
