Key specifications
- Blade length: Approximately 239 mm.
- Total length: Approximately 370 mm.
- Barrel ring: 22.2 mm diameter, fitting the muzzle brake of the Stgw 57.
- Material: High-grade chrome steel, usually chrome-plated to prevent corrosion.
- Handle: Black ribbed synthetic material (neoprene or composite).
Manufacturers and markings
Production was divided between two well-known Swiss companies. You can identify the maker by the stamp on the ricasso (the base of the blade):
- Victorinox: Early models are marked with "Victoria Schwyz" or "Victoria". Later versions have a simple "V" above the serial number.
- Wenger: Early models show the full name "Wenger"; later models use a "W".
- Control stamp: On the back, you often see the "F + W" in a circle, the stamp of Waffenfabrik Bern, which performed the final assembly and inspection.
Scabbard and accessories
- Scabbard: Made of black plastic with a steel mouthpiece. Often marked with an italic "P" from the manufacturer Paillard AG.
- Carrier (frosch): Used to attach the scabbard to the belt.
- Compatibility: Although made for the Stgw 57, the locking mechanism also fits the later SIG SG 550 (Stgw 90).
