Municipal Police Of The Netherlands
In the 1960s, the Dutch municipal police wore a characteristic flat cap as a standard part of their uniform. Although there were minor variations depending on rank and task, the standard model from this period had the following characteristics:
Style and Color: The caps were dark blue with a sleek, flat top.
Insignia: The metal corps insignia with the well-known motto "VIGILAT UT QUIESCANT" (He watches so that they may rest) was displayed on the front. The center of the eight-pointed star often featured the symbol of a burning grenade or a municipal coat of arms.
Traffic Police: Traffic police officers often wore a cap with a white trim for better visibility on the street.
Rank Differences: Officers and chief inspectors often had additional decorations, such as gold-colored piping or specific cords above the peak.
