Police Visor Cap Hessen
In Hesse (Germany), the white police cap (weiße Schirmmütze) is still an official part of the uniform, although it has a specific meaning and function that differs from the standard dark blue cap.
Function and Use in Hesse
Visibility: Unlike many other German states where the white cap has completely disappeared, it is still worn by officers in Hesse (as well as in Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland). The white color serves to improve the officer's recognizability and visibility in crowds or on the road.
Traffic Police: Historically, the white cap was the distinguishing mark of the Verkehrspolizei (traffic police). In Hesse, this tradition is partly preserved in the modern blue uniform.
Cap: A silver star with the Hessian coat of arms (the red and gold striped lion) in the center.
Size: 57
No sweatband.
