Dutch Van Heutsz Regiment

The Regiment Van Heutsz carries on the traditions of the former Royal Netherlands East Indies Army (KNIL) and the Netherlands Detachment United Nations (NDVN) from the Korean War. This history is directly reflected in the beret and collar badges.

Beret Badge

• Design: The design is based on the historical hat badge of the KNIL.
• Symbolism: It features a radiant sun (the 'KNIL sun') containing the Dutch coat of arms and a laurel wreath.
• Background: The metal badge is mounted on a black felt backing with orange borders.

Collar Badges

• Design: The collar badge is a smaller, stylized version of the main motif of the beret badge.
• Background: The badge is attached to a pentagonal black collar patch.
• Piping: The black background is finished all around with an orange border.
• Wear: The collar patches are worn on the lapels of the Service Dress (DT) and the Mess Dress/Ceremonial Uniform (GLT).
