The Spanish M1941 Bayonet, also known as the Machete-Bayoneta Modelo 1941 or the "Bolo" bayonet, is an iconic bladed weapon recognizable by its broad, machete-like blade.

Key Features

• Design: The design is based on the earlier M1907 Artillery Bolo and was intended to serve as both a bayonet and a functional machete for clearing vegetation.
• Blade: A distinctive "Bolo" shaped blade approximately 24.5 cm to 25 cm long with a deep blood groove (fuller).
• Handle: Usually fitted with checkered wooden scales, secured with two screws.
• Production: Manufactured by the Fábrica Nacional de Toledo (FNT) in Spain, often marked with the text "Toledo" or a crowned FN logo on the ricasso.

Usage and Compatibility

• Rifle: Specifically designed for the Spanish Mauser M1943 rifle (8mm).
• Adapter: To mount it on the M1943, a special Ricchieri adapter was often required to properly lock the bayonet.
• Historical Context: Although Spain was neutral in World War II, this model was used by the Blue Division (Spanish volunteers) fighting on the Eastern Front alongside Germany.
• Experience: Despite its multifunctional design, the weapon was often too unwieldy as a machete in practice and therefore not very popular among soldiers.
