Dutch M16A Combat Helmet
The M16A Helmet
The M16A helmet was produced between 1922 and 1924 by the firms of Heijst & Zonen, Hadfields Ltd., and Eskilstuna Stalpressnings and was not stamped. The M16A is characterized by three backpack strap slots and one air vent on each side. From mid- to late 1925, M16A helmets were produced without an air vent.
The liner was an improved model, similar to the one used on the M16 helmets of 1916 and 1917. It consisted of three leather flaps placed on a leather strap. The horsehair pouches were replaced by three rectangular felt flaps placed under the leather flaps, and only one size was available.
The chinstrap was a two-piece model, also known as the 2nd model, with a pin buckle on the left side instead of the previously used sliding buckle.
