Swiss Helmet Model 1918 Police
€ 145,00
The Swiss Model 1918 (M18) police helmet is a variant of the standard military steel combat helmet introduced starting in 1924. Although the design is largely identical to the military version, police models often feature specific characteristics.
Police-specific features
- Color variations: Whereas the military version was olive green (before 1943) or textured anthracite/black (after 1943), police helmets are often finished in glossy green or blue-gray.
- Emblems: Some municipal variants feature a hole on the front for mounting a city coat of arms or logo.
Design and Versions
The police used several versions of the M18 shell:
- M1918 (Original): Recognizable by the wide, low rim.
- M18/40: A modified version with a larger visor and slightly shorter sides for better visibility.
- M18/43: Introduced the black textured paint (paint mixed with sawdust) to counteract reflection.
- Interior: Early models had a fully round interior; later versions (M40) used a horseshoe-shaped band for better ventilation.
