The Swiss M.71-79 helmet is a steel combat helmet featuring a unique integrated attachment system for securing it to a backpack.

Key features of the backpack attachment:

• Integrated Hook: Unlike standard helmets that require straps, the M.71-79 has a special hook (or a suspension ring on later models) to clip the helmet directly onto the backpack.
• Model Transition: In 1990, many existing M71 helmets were retrofitted with a suspension ring at the rear of the rim, after which they were renamed the M71/90.
