Belgian M71 Paratrooper Helmet
€ 160,00
The Belgian M71 Paratrooper Helmet is a distinctive piece of Cold War-era headgear modeled after the West German M1A1 LL (Luftlandetruppenstahlhelm). Introduced in the early 1970s to replace older British-style MK II helmets, it was the standard issue for Belgian airborne forces until the transition to Kevlar in the 1990s.
Key Identification Features
- Shell Construction: Manufactured primarily by German firms like Schuberth & Braunschweig. The shell resembles a standard M1 helmet but lacks the front brim to reduce wind resistance during jumps.
- Belgian Markings: Almost all authentic Belgian issues feature a Belgian tri-color flag(red, yellow, black) on the left side of the shell.
- Chinstrap System: Most Belgian variants feature a leather chin cup, a modification often seen on Schuberth-produced exports for Belgium.
- Liner Variations:
- Standard: The original German-style liner with a foam-padded plastic frame.
- Hybrid/Experimental: A rarer variant uses the French Gallet F1 liner. These shells often have the original liner holes filled with "blind rivets" and new holes drilled to accommodate the French suspension system.
