Swedish M37-65 Helmet
€ 95,00
The Swedish M37-65 is a modernized version of the classic Swedish M37 steel helmet. It served as the standard combat helmet for the Swedish Armed Forces for several decades.
Key Features
- Foundation: It uses the original steel shell of the M37 model, which had been in use since the late 1930s.
- The 1965 Modernization: (hence the "-65" designation), the existing helmets were retrofitted with a more modern liner and suspension system to replace the old-fashioned leather flaps.
- Liner: The updated interior is typically adjustable and features a plastic frame for shock absorption, similar to the American M1 helmet system.
- Appearance:
- Shape: Distinctive round and low profile.
- Color: While the originals were often grey, the revised versions are usually finished in a characteristic brownish-green or olive drab color.
- Decals: Many units feature the Swedish "Three Crowns" (Tre Kronor) shield on both sides.
- Material: Made of high-quality steel designed to provide protection against shrapnel and debris.
Usage and Collecting
The M37-65 remained in service until the mid-1990s, when it was replaced by modern composite helmets like the M90. Due to high production numbers, it is currently a popular and affordable item for military surplus collectors.
Note: The Finnish M62 helmet looks very similar because Finland purchased shells from Sweden and fitted them with their own liners.
