American M1 Helmet - Vietnam War

A complete M1 helmet (Type I Infantry) from the Vietnam era, without a cover, consists of specific components produced between the early 1960s and the mid-1970s.

Essential Components

• M1 Steel Shell (The "Pot"): Authentic helmets from this period feature a rear-seamand swivel bales for the chinstrap. They are typically painted in a matte Olive Drab (OD) color.
• Infantry Chinstrap (Type I): A two-piece chinstrap made of olive drab cotton. A correct specimen has a black metal T1 pressure-release buckle (often marked with an anchor logo). This clasp releases under high pressure to prevent neck injuries.
• M1 Helmet Liner: The infantry liner is made of laminated nylon.
• Suspension System: Green webbing (straps) secured with black-painted steel rings.
• Nape Strap: An adjustable strap at the back of the neck that provides stability.
• Sweatband: A leather-lined band that clips into the webbing for wearing comfort.
