This was originally developed for military personnel operating in humid, dense jungle environments.

Historical Origins and Design

• WWII and Vietnam Era: Officially introduced in August 1943 as the M-1 (and later updated to the M-2). The kit was specifically designed to withstand the wet conditions of jungle warfare.
• The Pouch: Traditional military versions were made of water-repellent and mildew-resistant cotton duck.
• Color: The pouch is finished in the standard military color Olive Drab (OD green) for optimal field camouflage.
• Attachment: The pouch features an integrated hook to attach it securely to military web gear (webbing) or tactical belts.
