Dutch M1953 Helmet

The Dutch M53 helmet used by the Municipal Police (Gemeentepolitie) is a two-piece steel helmet based on the American M1 helmet.
Features and details of the M53 police and Riot Police (ME) helmet:
- Model: It is essentially the same helmet as the military M53 "troop helmet," but specifically equipped and adapted for the police.
- Color: Police versions were painted blue, unlike the olive drab military variant. They were also sometimes used by the Riot Police (Mobiele Eenheid).
- Emblem/Decal: The front was often featured an emblem, such as the well-known logo of the Municipal Police.
- Liner: The helmet features a first-generation detachable inner helmet.
- Manufacturers: The steel outer shells were produced by manufacturers like Linnemann-Schnetzer. The liners were supplied by companies including Verblifa (Verenigde Blik Fabrieken) and Schuberth.
- Period of Use: The M53 was introduced in the 1950s and remained in service well into the 1980s/early 1990s before being replaced.
