Feuerhand Anlasskraftstoff Behälter

Feuerhand is known worldwide primarily for its storm lanterns, but during the years 1940-1945, it played a historically highly interesting role in the production of cold-start fuel containers (Anlasskraftstoffbehälter).

The Historical Connection

• The Cold-Start Fuel Container:
  Feuerhand produced cylindrical and kidney-shaped tin containers for military vehicles of the Wehrmacht (such as the VW Kübelwagen Type 82). These were used to carry highly flammable cold-start fuel(mostly ether-gasoline mixtures) for winter cold starts.

Characteristics

• Shape: Typically kidney-shaped or oval with a lockable bale handle and a sealing ring.
• Material: Mostly made of robust, enameled sheet steel (often in brown or blue) or aluminum.
