Italian side Cap with Turreted Crown
€ 10,00
After 1946, the Italian Air Force was renamed the Aeronautica Militare, and the royal emblem was adapted to the new republican form of government.
Main Difference in the Emblem
- Before 1946: The emblem was an eagle surmounted by the Royal Crown of Italy (a Savoyard crown).
- After 1946: The crown was removed. The emblem of the Aeronautica Militare shows a stylized eagle without the royal crown above. The eagle is now sometimes associated with a mural crown (turreted crown) or the letters "AM".
Features of the Cap (Bustina) after 1946
- Name: The bustina remained in use, even after the transition to the republic, as standard headgear.
- Color and Material: The fabric generally remained gray-blue wool (grigio-azzurro), matching the uniform.
- Current use: Although the bustina remained in use long after the war, berets have been the primary headgear worn by Italian troops since the 1980s. The bustina is still used in military schools and for ceremonial or historical uniforms.
Size: 60
