Képi Troupes de marine
€ 55,00
The French marine kepi for paratroopers (part of the Troupes de Marine) is a distinctive military headdress that combines the traditions of colonial troops with those of airborne units.
Features of the Kepi
- Colors: The base of the kepi is dark blue (almost black) with a red top (turban).
- Insignia: The obverse features the traditional gold-colored anchor of the marines. In specific paratrooper units, this may be combined with the silver wing of the airborne divisions.
- Finishing: Officers and non-commissioned officers wear versions with gold piping and a "Hungarian knot" on the top to indicate their rank.
Paratroopers Context
Although the kepi is the official ceremonial headdress, French naval paratroopers (such as those of the 1st RPIMa or 3rd RPIMa) usually wear the red beret (amarante) on daily duty. The kepi is mainly reserved for formal occasions, parades and going-out uniforms.
