€ 625,00
The Model 1958 "Pugnale da Assaltatori" is a specialized combat knife that was issued to the San Marco Battalion (the elite marines of the Italian Navy) during the Cold War. Among collectors, this knife is highly sought after due to its blend of World War II heritage and functional mid-century design.
Features and Design
- Historical Tradition: The design is heavily inspired by Italian combat knives from WWII and shares visual characteristics with Mannlicher-Carcano bayonets.
- Blade: It features a robust, double-edged "spear-point" blade. These examples were produced in the Turin (Torino) army factory and frequently bear a "1958" year stamp.
- Handle: The handle consists of two smooth, light-colored wooden scales. These are attached to the tang with two large screw bolts, a specific feature that distinguishes this model from older versions with rivets.
- Guard and Knob: The knife features a straight steel guard (crossguard).
- Sheath: The knife was originally supplied with a steel sheath, often finished with olive green leather, matching the military equipment of the time.
Authentic M1958:
- Arsenal Marks: Marking on the blade "FAT" (Fabbrica d'Armi Terni).
- Years: A distinct "58" stamp on the blade.
