Duitse "Saxony" M1915 Pickelhaube
€ 175,00
A reproduction German "Saxony" M1915 Pickelhaube is a modern-made replica of the iconic spiked helmet used by Saxon troops during the later stages of World War I. Unlike pre-war versions, the M1915 reproduction should feature matte grey or field-grey steel fittings and a removable spike, mirroring the historical shift away from reflective brass to wartime materials.
Key Identification Features
- Front Plate (Wappen): Features the distinct Saxon eight-pointed star with the state coat of arms at its center, rather than the more common Prussian eagle.
- Removable Spike: A defining feature of the M1915 is the bayonet-style lug, which allowed the spike to be easily removed for better concealment in trenches.
- Dual Cockades (Kokarden):
- Right side: The black-white-red Imperial (Reich) cockade.
- Left side: The white and green Saxon state cockade.
- Materials: Constructed from pressed black-lacquered leather. Due to material shortages, M1915 shells were often made of thinner leather than earlier pre-war models.
- Fittings: All metal trim, including the spike and front plate, is finished in a matte grey steel.
