€ 225,00
The WWII Japanese Navy Type 90 Helmet (also known as the Tetsubo or Tetsukabuto) was the standard steel helmet for the Imperial Japanese Navy, featuring distinct differences from its Army counterpart.
Key Features of the Navy Type 90 Helmet
- Insignia: The most prominent feature is a metal anchor badge (often with a stylized cherry blossom) on the front. Late-war versions sometimes replaced the metal badge with a yellow stenciled anchor.
- Color: While many were painted brown like Army helmets, many helmets used "shipboard grey" or green.
- Internal Markings: produced in "Small" and "Large" sizes indicated by kanji (e.g., "大" for Large) stamped on the rear inner rim
- Liner & Rivets: Navy helmets often used flat side rivets (unlike the slightly domed ones on IJA helmets) and dark red cowhide leather liners, though canvas or linen liners were also used.
Net & Accessories Set
The helmet was frequently paired with a camouflage net, especially by combat units like the Special Naval Landing Forces (SNLF).
- Camouflage Net: Typically made of hemp or cotton, used to break up the helmet's silhouette and secure natural foliage.
- Chinstrap: Secured via three rings inside the shell, following a traditional tying method similar to samurai headgear.
The helmet is a high-quality reproduction.
