The Carrier (Cover)

The reverse side includes the classic metal wire belt hook designed to mount the cover onto an M-1936 pistol belt or standard field pack.

Historical Context

While the M-1910 fixed T-handle shovel originated during World War I, it remained the primary entrenching tool for United States forces during the early combat stages of World War II (such as the North African campaign and early operations in the Pacific). By 1943, this model began to be phased out in favor of the folding M-1943 entrenching tool. This makes 1942 one of the final massive production years for this iconic straight-handle design.
