The Italian M4 bayonet is a post-war derivative of the American M4, produced for the M1 Carbine used by the Italian armed forces from the 1950s to the 1990s.
Key features
- Manufacturer: Most were made by Arsenale Esercito Torino (A.E.T.), the Turin Army Arsenal.
- Markings: The left side of the blade usually bears the inscription "A.E.T." with a flaming shell and crossed cannons, plus the year (e.g., 1955). The right side often features a serial number.
- Handle:Usually made of brown plastic with two screws.
Rarer early models (circa 1955) have smooth wooden handles. - Scabbard: Often an Italian copy of the American M8 scabbard, made of green fiberglass with a khaki canvas belt attachment.
